Well, my husband and I got to go out this weekend!ﾃつ We went to New Orleans to see The Police (seeﾃつ previous post about this).ﾃつ Well, we got to NO a little early so that we could get dinner in the French Quarter.ﾃつ I had purchased a gift certificate to the Oceana Grillﾃつ from Restaurant.comﾃつ an was really excited to use it.ﾃつ I had already checked out their menu on the website.ﾃつ ﾃつ My husband and I don’t make it to New Orleans very often, but when we do go, we try to get a good meal.ﾃつ We usually go there to go to a concert!ﾃつ
We both love Barbequed Shrimp, so we started with that as an appetizer.ﾃつ ﾃつ They were really awesome ( I figured they would be, when we saw on the menu that the Oceana was a sister restaurant to the The Alpine (also in New Orleans), where we have been a few times forﾃつ their awesome Barbequed Shrimp.ﾃつ I am glad that we did not order this as an entree.ﾃつ As good as they were, they were a bit to rich to make a full meal out of itﾃつ (and we were hungry!).ﾃつ This is not a bbq sauce that you would think of.ﾃつ It has an olive oil and garlic base with herbs like rosemary and some good oleﾃつ creole spice!
After sopping up the sauce with our French bread (a must if you want to experience all of the flavors), we were ready for our entree.ﾃつ We both ordered the Fresh Ahi Tuna stuffed with crabmeat dressing, Blackened and topped with Crawfish and mushroom cream sauce.ﾃつ OMG…this was a huge dish that just looked like it was going to be good.ﾃつ The first bit proved that it didn’t just look good…it was kick your mamma good.ﾃつ In addition to the tuna, there was also a heeping pile of jambalaya and sauteed zucchini and yellow squash.ﾃつ I did not want to waste my valuable stomach spaceﾃつ on the jambalaya, but my husband said it tasted (with much more stomach space to fill) good.ﾃつ I tried as hard as I could to eat all of my tuna, but hust couldn’t go anymore (without seriously hurting myself).ﾃつ I usually like my tuna cooked ( well, overcooked) to not see pink.ﾃつ The waiter strongly suggested that I not cook it much past medium, and I could definately tell the difference between my medium well and hubby;s medium.ﾃつ His looked too pink inside for me, and mine was just a little pink.ﾃつ I was fine with that. I am glad that I listened to the waiter and not had it cooked well done.ﾃつ It would have dried it out too much.ﾃつ My tuna was perfect.ﾃつ The sauce was not as rich as I was thinking it might have been, and I was glad.ﾃつ It was a light sauce that really complimented the tuna andﾃつ crabmeat stuffing.ﾃｯﾂｿﾂｽ
Yes, we did order dessert, even though I had to have my unfinished entree removed from me so as not to pop.ﾃつ My husband ordered the bread pudding, and I just couldn’t resist taking a few bites.ﾃつ It was not too sweet or too rich, so my stomach welcomed the sweet ending to a perfect meal.
The Oceana isﾃつ casual dress, like most French Quarter restaurants, but don’t let that fool you as far as the quality of a meal you get.
I am glad that we had the gift certificate, because the entrees were $25.00 a piece, plus the appetizer, dessert, and each a drink.ﾃつ The $25.00ﾃつ Restaurant.com Dining Certificates 
cost $10.00 and I just printed it on my home printer, so it was definately worth getting one.ﾃつ ﾃつ I am so glad that I found the Oceana Grill and we will definately go there again (butﾃつ not without getting a gift certificate first!).ﾃつ Sadly, there are no restaurants in my town that I can get gift certificates for.ﾃつ I am going to Houston in a few weeks, soﾃつ I am going to try to find a place to get a certificate for!
After the meal, we went to The Police concert.ﾃつ We got there just in time to sit around for about an hour before the opening act came on.ﾃつ Fiction Plane was the band, and they were pretty good, but I would have to go find their music online to hear them recorded (it’s hard to say if you like a band from just hearing them live…you can’t destinguise the lyrics if you don’t already know them).ﾃつ My husband looked them up online after the show, and found out that the singer was Sting’s son.ﾃつ
The Police sounded great.ﾃつ I was not too crazy about how Sting sang Don’t Stand So Close To Me.ﾃつ He softened and mellowed ﾃつ up the “don’t stands” too much in my opinion.ﾃつ They played a nice mix from all of their albums, and I am still stuck with “when the world is running down, you make the best of what’s still around” stuck in my head!!ﾃつ They were tight since they have been playing on tour for a little while now.ﾃつ
Great Date, Great Meal, Great Concert!!
