I was at the Dollar Tree the other day ( one of those everything is a buck stores), and saw that they had those neat red and white popcorn buckets.  They were made of plastic, so they are reusable. It seemed to me that they could easily hold one bag of popped microwave popcorn in them.  I thought…WOW, what a great gift idea.  Here is what you can do:

Get two of these popcorn buckets (place one inside the other), and two packages of the unpopped microwave popcorn. You will also want to include some movie theater sized boxes of candy ~ I personally like Raisnettes and popcorm mixed together! Next, go online to Netflix and get a gift certificate for a one month (or more, depending on your price range) membership to Netflix (you can print it right away ~ and even choose which occassion you are giving it for so that the certificate will have the look of that event!).  You may want to add something to the bottom of the bucket to make your items sit towards the top of the bucket ~ if you have a paper shredder, you can use that (be really creative and add red construction paper to the shredder for a more “festive” look! 

Once you have assembled your items, wrap it with transparent celophane wrap and a big bow.  If you can’t find those red and white striped popcorn buckets, just use a big plasic bowl ( if you are feeling artsy, get some markers or paint pens and write POPCORN on the side of the bowl).

This is a great gift idea for Christmas, Birthday, Valentine’s Day, and any gift giving occassion.

I just got an email a few days ago that had some really good news in it! My Netflix account was going down in price. I have the 3 at a time, unlimited account. The fee went from $17.99 a month to $16.99 a month (plus taxes). Yes, it is only a dollar less, but you know…that adds up!  Now, I can also watch movies online through Netflix (the selection is very limited, but it looks like they are adding more). With the plan I have, I can watch 17 hours of movies directly on Netflix. I have so many errands and places to be as the mom/daughter  taxi driver around here, it is nice to just let the kids pick out the movies they want to see on the computer and let Netflix ship them to me for free. I always dreaded going into the movie rental place, trying to find something that they wanted to watch. And my kids would kinda lose their mind and want to roam all over the place. The “best” part was when you could never get the new release because all 20 copies were already out. This summer, my kids really wanted to see Bridge to Terabithia, so we just added it to the top of our queue list, and on the day it was released, it was in our mail box. My girls love the Goosebumps shows (my teenager watched them when she was younger over the summer on I think it was called Fox and Family, now the younger ones are geting into them). We are able to get the Goosebumps episodes on Netflix! Another good thing about Netflix is that they have just about any movie you can think of. Many of the movie rental stores are carrying less and less older movies, because they try to make sure that they have lots of the new ones, and are limited for space.ÂÂ

This is such a great service for busy moms! I highly recommend using Netflix!

Every time I go to Goodwill or a garage sale, I see lots of books. I also see cds and even dvds. There are so many people out there that buy these, because it is kind of cheap. It does add up after awhile. It is nice to get new books, movies, and cds every once in awhile to replace the ones that we are tired of playing, watching or have finished reading. Well, I just came across a site called SwitchPlanet.com where you can swap out these with other members! It’s a cool idea. You set up an account for free. You list the items you have to swap (they accept DVDs, CDs, videos games, and books). It doesn’t cost you anything to list these. When you list, you do not ask for money for your item, you ask for the internal currency called switchbucs. When another member wants an item you have listed, they must have enough switchbucs in their account to get your item. If they don’t, they can purchase these from the site. Once they request the item, and have the correct amount of switchbucs, you mail out the item to them. You pay for the shipping costs. That is it. When you request an item, the person you request from pays to ship the item to you. No money is exchanged. The item is now yours to keep! You can switch with any member, it doesn’t have to be with the member that wants your stuff or the member whose stuff you want.ÂÂ

SwitchPlanet.com is not just a swap site, it is a social site. There are member groups with different themes. You can join groups that have members with similar interests to yours. You can start your own group if there isn’t one that appeals to you! Just like other social websites, you can create a profile for others to find out a little bit more about you.

When summer comes around, I always tend to rent more movies for the kids. The girls are allowed to stay up a little bit later. It gets so hot here in the summer, that the girls like to come inside for part of the day. The summer is usually when we get to watch movies that we wanted to see, but didn’t go to see in the movie theaters. I have already started to set up my movie list on Netflix.com. All I do is log into my account, and find movies I want tohave sent to me, and add them to my queue (waiting to be sent to you list). This way, I don’t have to worry about going to the video store, and hoping that the movie we want to see is even available. Netflix.com is so good about having older movies and just a really nice selection of movies to rent. I have found lots of movies that I can’t find locally.  I have the 3 at a time deal unlimited deal, so that I can get something for me and something for them to watch. With Netflix.com, I just stick the movies into the mailbox when I am finished with them. I just a few days, I have new movies! As a mom who forgets to return movies and end up having to pay late fees often, Netflix saves me money. I can return the movies when I am ready to ~ and i don’t have to leave the house to do it. This is really good now with the gas prices costing an arm and a leg. I love having Netflix!
