I bought some of this Suave Exhale Alluring Body Wash in the Sandalwood & Cinnamon scent. The scent has a blend of one of my favorites (sandalwood). You know how some body wash scents are a bit strong and just have kind of weird, artifical fragrances? This blend of sandalwood and cinnamon is not overpowering, and has a light scent. The scent isn’t the only thing that I liked about this stuff.  Some body washes tend to make me a little ichy or dry my skin out. I didn’t have this problem with this one. It doesn’t take much to get a bunch of lather. If my kids weren’t using it too (they love the smell), it may last longer. I may have to hide the next bottle. Because it is inexpensive, i don’t mind so much, but if I would have paid a bit more for it, I would be hiding it and daring them to use it.  I have just “splurged” on the lotion that has the same scent! I am just worth it I guess!!!!

Nice stuff without having to go to the mall or spend a bunch of money. ÂÂ

Definately the perfect flip flop for moms!ÂÂ

I am not the type to spend much money on shoes, especially flip flops. I usually just buy them at the dollar store. I really wanted to find a pair that would not hurt when I walked around for a long time. I hate to wear sneakers in the heat of our Louisiana summer (well, spring, summer, fall, and winter can be a bit warm). I thought I shoulds upgrade from the archless flat rubber/foam ( or whatever they make those things out of) to something a little bit better for my feet. I found the perfect flip flop, but it was way more than I wanted to pay ( well, at least by $10.00 more). I walked around in the store with a pair of Rocket Dog Reflex flip flops just like you see here. I decided what the heck, I am splurging (they were on sale for $19.99).ÂÂ

Well, I started to wear them a bit, and after awhile of wearing them, my arches ached a little bit. I started to think that maybe I made a bad choice. I think that my feet were just freaking out because there was an arch! I still wore them. After a few days, my feet realized that this was a good thing, and they submitted and began to like the arch!

I love these things! I wear them almost all of the time. My husband and I went to New Orleans the other night, and walking around there…I was glad I descided to wear them! They have about a 1 inch thick sole, and they feel like you are walking on cushions, not the hard cement like many flip flops. Mine have gotten wet, and they still look new! I think I need to find these in pink!!!!ÂÂ

Get you some of these…They rock!

Well, my husband and I got to go out this weekend! We went to New Orleans to see The Police (see previous post about this). Well, we got to NO a little early so that we could get dinner in the French Quarter. I had purchased a gift certificate to the Oceana Grill from Restaurant.com an was really excited to use it. I had already checked out their menu on the website.  My husband and I don’t make it to New Orleans very often, but when we do go, we try to get a good meal. We usually go there to go to a concert!ÂÂ

We both love Barbequed Shrimp, so we started with that as an appetizer.  They were really awesome ( I figured they would be, when we saw on the menu that the Oceana was a sister restaurant to the The Alpine (also in New Orleans), where we have been a few times for their awesome Barbequed Shrimp. I am glad that we did not order this as an entree. As good as they were, they were a bit to rich to make a full meal out of it (and we were hungry!). This is not a bbq sauce that you would think of. It has an olive oil and garlic base with herbs like rosemary and some good ole creole spice!

After sopping up the sauce with our French bread (a must if you want to experience all of the flavors), we were ready for our entree. We both ordered the Fresh Ahi Tuna stuffed with crabmeat dressing, Blackened and topped with Crawfish and mushroom cream sauce. OMG…this was a huge dish that just looked like it was going to be good. The first bit proved that it didn’t just look good…it was kick your mamma good. In addition to the tuna, there was also a heeping pile of jambalaya and sauteed zucchini and yellow squash. I did not want to waste my valuable stomach space on the jambalaya, but my husband said it tasted (with much more stomach space to fill) good. I tried as hard as I could to eat all of my tuna, but hust couldn’t go anymore (without seriously hurting myself). I usually like my tuna cooked ( well, overcooked) to not see pink. The waiter strongly suggested that I not cook it much past medium, and I could definately tell the difference between my medium well and hubby;s medium. His looked too pink inside for me, and mine was just a little pink. I was fine with that. I am glad that I listened to the waiter and not had it cooked well done. It would have dried it out too much. My tuna was perfect. The sauce was not as rich as I was thinking it might have been, and I was glad. It was a light sauce that really complimented the tuna and crabmeat stuffing.�
Yes, we did order dessert, even though I had to have my unfinished entree removed from me so as not to pop. My husband ordered the bread pudding, and I just couldn’t resist taking a few bites. It was not too sweet or too rich, so my stomach welcomed the sweet ending to a perfect meal.

The Oceana is casual dress, like most French Quarter restaurants, but don’t let that fool you as far as the quality of a meal you get.

I am glad that we had the gift certificate, because the entrees were $25.00 a piece, plus the appetizer, dessert, and each a drink. The $25.00 Restaurant.com Dining Certificates cost $10.00 and I just printed it on my home printer, so it was definately worth getting one.  I am so glad that I found the Oceana Grill and we will definately go there again (but not without getting a gift certificate first!). Sadly, there are no restaurants in my town that I can get gift certificates for. I am going to Houston in a few weeks, so I am going to try to find a place to get a certificate for!

After the meal, we went to The Police concert. We got there just in time to sit around for about an hour before the opening act came on. Fiction Plane was the band, and they were pretty good, but I would have to go find their music online to hear them recorded (it’s hard to say if you like a band from just hearing them live…you can’t destinguise the lyrics if you don’t already know them). My husband looked them up online after the show, and found out that the singer was Sting’s son.ÂÂ

The Police sounded great. I was not too crazy about how Sting sang Don’t Stand So Close To Me. He softened and mellowed  up the “don’t stands” too much in my opinion. They played a nice mix from all of their albums, and I am still stuck with “when the world is running down, you make the best of what’s still around” stuck in my head!! They were tight since they have been playing on tour for a little while now.ÂÂ

Great Date, Great Meal, Great Concert!!

I love candles that have scents like sandalwood, and other more earthy scents. I was really excited to find the scent “Outback Lodge” in the Martha Stewart Everyday line at Kmart. The scent was a blend of sandalwood, musk, and bergamot.  I had to sniff it! It really smelled nice, but it wasn’t on sale and it cost nearly $10.00 for a 20oz candle. Well, my local Kmart is having a big clearance sale right now, and guess what ~ that candle was on sale! I got 40% off! That was worth a try. It smelled wonderful, and I couldn’t wait to get it lit and smell it throughout the house. I got home and let my teenager smell it. She said it smelled like men’s cologne, but it was nice. I put it in the kitchen and lit it. After about an hour, I still could not smell this thing unless I was right next to it. It actually smelled stronger when it was not lit. I was disappointed, especially since I really liked the “robust medley”!
